It’s understandable if you’re a bit nervous about trying any new therapy, and Rolfing is no exception. However, I’d like to put your mind at ease by addressing some common concerns about discomfort during Rolfing.
As a Rolfing therapist, I can assure you that the pressure applied during a Rolfing session should never be painful. While I may apply some pressure, the goal is to address tension and tightness in your fascia. Fascia which is the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles, bones, and organs.
Some people may feel a bit uncomfortable at the beginning of the Rolfing therapy, but it should never be unbearable.
If you ever feel uncomfortable during your session, just let me know and I will adjust my techniques to ensure you’re comfortable.
Why some people feel some soreness after their Rolfing session?
- This is because the Rolfing therapy is helping to realign your body and restore balance. This may result in temporary discomfort, but don’t worry, this discomfort is usually minor and should subside within a few hours or days.
I can speak from personal experience when I say that I was initially worried about the level of pressure during my Rolfing sessions. However, after my first session, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pressure was manageable and that I was able to relax during the therapy. I did experience some soreness after my first few sessions, but it was only temporary and went away within a few days. The improvements I experienced were remarkable. My posture improved, my body felt more aligned, and my overall stress levels decreased. I was able to participate in physical activities with ease and even my sleep improved.
